Sweden’s Aftonbladet believe Paweł Cibicki is on the verge of leaving Leeds United, and they present the transfer as being almost done.
Signed from Malmo in 2017, the attacker was sent to Norway’s Molde on a loan deal which ended on December 31st.
Should the Swedish newspaper be correct, and they sound very confident, then Cibicki won’t be spending the second half of the Championship season trying to break into Marcelo Bielsa’s squad. He’s set to join Elfsborg on loan, and there’ll be a purchase option in the deal.
The Allsvenskan season starts in March and runs until November.
Elfsborg want to have reinforcement in for their preseason training camp which begins next week, suggesting a quick turnaround on this Leeds deal.
Stefan Andreasson, the club’s sport director, didn’t want to confirm the deal publicly and is quoted by Aftonbladet as saying: “Ambitions are to get any player in place before we go on training camp next week. I have no comments on that (Cibicki being done). We present players when something is ready.”
Andreasson was then further pushed on when the presentation will be, and just reiterated they want players in for next week.
Leeds United fans had been hoping for incoming transfer activity during January, but so far players have been going the other way.
