The front page of Sport claims Barcelona ‘urges’ Adrien Rabiot to sign for the La Liga winners ‘as soon as possible’.
His agent has met four other clubs since January 1st and that’s resulted in ‘tension with Rabiot’ for the Blaugrana.
The midfielder has six months left on his contract at Paris Saint-Germain and has decided against renewing his current deal, which is why Ernesto Valverde’s side are looking to sign a pre-contract agreement with him.
He’s already expressed his desire to move to the Camp Nou and the Spanish champions now want the 23-year-old to take the decisive step and sign a contract with them in the next few days.
The Catalan club want it done as soon as possible as they are looking to avoid any last minute surprises.
Only the Frenchman’s signature is missing on the official offer that has been on the table since the start of this month, and it’s believed to be higher than what was offered to him last summer.
This offer includes a €10m signing on bonus and a five-year deal, which will see his salary increase as time passes.
Despite Rabiot’s representative meeting with other clubs, Barca are optimistic of his arrival because they know he wants to be a star at the club.
Also, the contract offered has incentives for winning silverware, something he is confident of achieving with the Spanish giants.
Unless and until there is a signature on the document, the deal is not official, which is why alarms have been set off at Barcelona following the agent’s contact with other clubs.
For this reason, the deal for Rabiot is complicated, even though there is optimism at the club about his arrival.
