Oh yes he is, oh no he isn’t.
Last week the Spanish media kicked off pantomime season with big claims and counter claims over the future of Brahim Diaz. Whilst some in Spain are convinced the Manchester City youngster will be moving to Real Madrid, others aren’t quite so sure.
Even Marca, who have pushed the Madrid claims more than anyone, keep adding a little doubt despite more than once presenting the deal as almost done.
And it’s Marca who have a new angle on Monday.
The Spanish newspaper say Pep Guardiola is in the middle of a ‘conflict of interest’ over Diaz, because the player is represented by his brother Pere.
Despite claiming this, Marca don’t seem entirely sure what they mean. For Pep, it’s a simple aim to keep the player at his club, there’s really no conflict regardless of who the agent is.
For Pere, there may be otherwise, but given everything hinges on what Diaz himself wants, even that is stretching it.
Marca say Diaz is ‘living a peculiar situation’ right now, and they state ‘everything indicates’ he’ll choose the Real Madrid option, but this claim doesn’t seem as strong as previous ones and it’s clear the player’s future remains a work in progress.
