Marcus Antonsson is enjoying his football.
The 27 year old left Leeds United in the summer transfer window to sign for Malmo in his native Sweden.
He’d struggled to make an impact at Elland Road since moving in 2015 from Kalmar, and spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers. There had been claims from Italy that Massimo Cellino wanted to sign the player for Serie B club Brescia but nothing came of it in the end.
Antonsson has managed eight league goals and three assists in fifteen matches so far for Malmo. He’s also played four matches in the Europa League, picking up a goal.
The Swedish club face Genk in the competition this week and ahead of the match, the striker has been speaking to Expressen, a newspaper in the country.
Expressen quote him as saying: “It has been a positive start for me in Malmo. I have contributed goals and assists and we have had a good journey since I arrived.
“A similarity has been a lot of matches. Every third day, in principle, I’ve been used to it and that’s something I love. I am very pleased with the move. I do not think in any way that I took a step backwards, on the contrary. Now I play Europa League, and the Allsvenskan just gets better and better and more attractive even for us players.”
