Inter Milan took Keita Balde on a season-long loan deal from AS Monaco for €6m and have an option of signing him on a permanent deal after this season for €30m.
The Senegalese international has made 11 appearances in the league and is yet to find the back of the net and Tutto Mercato Web claims the winger has not convinced the Nerazzurri with his performances.
It’s claimed the possibility of the Serie A outfit allowing the 23-year-old return to his parent club and then go elsewhere in January is not ruled out, if an interesting offer arrives, and this is when Wolverhampton Wanderers’ name is brought up.
The Italian website mentions the option of moving to the Premier League in the mid-season transfer window is a possibility as Nuno Espírito Santo’s side are ‘more than interested’ in the player.
Should Wolves’ interest convert into an offer for Balde in January, then Inter can terminate their loan deal and they don’t have to pay €6m loan fee to the Ligue 1 side nor the €30m for the permanent transfer.
If Wolves land the ex-Lazio attacker, they could do a favour to Luciano Spalletti’s side because they are of the belief that the idea of Balde impressing in the second half of the season is an illusion.
There may be a barrier in the way of any move. Keita played in the French Super Cup for Monaco in August and then moved to Inter Milan, UEFA have had a rule of not allowing players to represent more than two clubs in any one season.
Unless that is changed, or the Super Cup counts for last season, which is unlikely, then he can’t play for Wolves or another third club.
