Transfer rumours surrounding Vicente Iborra are often in the Spanish media, usually linking him with one, or both, of his former clubs.
A few days ago there were claims about a potential return to Levante, with the club said to be patient and even prepared to wait until Iborra’s contract end date, June 2021, becomes closer and his price drops.
Sevilla aren’t so patient and they tried to get the midfielder back during the summer window. In September, the Leicester City player confirmed it himself, saying: “I always have a relationship with Sevilla. It’s a club that I still keep very close and there are always conversations. Apart from this, Leicester didn’t let me go, they consider me an important player and when you are valued like that you are also grateful.”
Now Sevilla are looking towards the January window. Marca report the club want to add to their squad following an injury to Maxime Gonalons.
Iborra’s agent, Fede Marco, has been contacted about a potential move. It’s said Sevilla ‘again ask about’ the midfielder after their summer attempt, when they wanted a loan.
This is where the real talk likely comes. Marca explain that whilst the Spanish club wanted a loan, Leicester wanted to recoup as much of their €15m as possible, which likely has more to do with a transfer failing than how important Iborra is.
Now Sevilla have to wait and see what the Premier League club request, with the hope being the Foxes would agree to a loan with a purchase option.
