Spanish outlet AS have published a story showing all the big spending that Roman Abramovich has accepted just to sack managers at Chelsea.

They start claiming that the club have spent €1.85bn during the Russian’s 16 seasons as a chairman, and even though that sounds a lot and would likely be arguable, the money used to fire coaches is more absurd.

AS claims that with Antonio Conte now demanding £20m for his departure, Chelsea could get to £99.1m spent on sacking managers.

It’s claimed that the most expensive sacking was José Mourinho’s first one, when Abramovich spent £18m. Then comes Luiz Felipe Scolari with £12.6m. They’re followed by André Villas Boas with £12m, Roberto Di Matteo with £10.1m, José Mourinho again with £8.3m, and Claudio Ranieri, Avram Grant and Carlo Ancelotti all with £6m each.

The only managers who left the Blues without getting a penny were Guus Hiddink (twice) and Rafa Benítez, both departing at the end of their contracts.

AS credits the research to sources such as Transfermarkt, The Independent, BBC and The Mirror. They add that Abramovich has also ‘fired’ Adidas, who got £67m from their contract recision.
