Earlier today, we’ve covered claims from Brazil which said that Everton are interested in the Porto defender Éder Militão.

The report from UOL said that the Toffees have already scouted the player twice, as his entourage believes he’ll soon leave Portugal.

The article also pointed out that Militão should be worth over €20m by now, even though the Dragons only paid €4m to sign him a few months ago.

By seeing this report, we’ve recalled an article we read in O Jogo on Tuesday, which was exactly about the increase in Militão’s value in the past few months.

The great triumph for Porto is that they’ve managed to sign Militão six months before his contract with São Paulo would expire. So €4m was quite a bargain for a player who should’ve cost a few times more.

O Jogo interviewed three different agents to talk about his price, concluding that in case Porto sell Militão soon, they will make quite a profit with him.

Arthur Fernandes said: “Éder Militão’s arrival to the Brazilian national team means a huge appreciation. Just remember the examples of Alex Sandro and Danilo to have notion of the transfers value. If FC Porto wanted to sell him today, they would already earn a lot, because the kid has made spectacular displays and gained the starting spot at FC Porto at a very young age. With the starting spot at FC Porto and playing in a few more national team games, the market value will rise and a lot, being at the end of the season in the order of €60m.”

Jorge Baidek has also spoken about Militão’s international call up: “The market value of all the athletes who are called to a national team, especially in a country like Brazil, goes up a lot. In addition, Éder Militão is young and is playing at a major European club. I have no doubt that he will be profitable and very simply because he is called to the Brazilian team and for playing at a club like FC Porto. I believe that he will be one of the great sales of FC Porto, surely at the level of the best transfers of the club. There will certainly be proposals.”

And Rui Neno is the most optimistic about the sale: “Being called up a second time, and if he starts playing frequently for the national team, his market value shoots up. This is guaranteed. Moreover with an advantage, because he’s young, he’s very competitive and plays as a right-back, midfield or central defender, either on the right or on the left. At FC Porto, he has played on the left, but he can still do more on the right. FC Porto did a great job. If there is nothing extra-football that could harm his evolution, he could reach €60m or €70m.”

Everton, almost certainly, wouldn’t be prepared to pay such an amount for the player. It’s conceivable he’s a target for the Toffees, but Marcel Brands and Marco Silva would be looking at a cheaper deal.
