Benjamin Mendy was not in Manchester City’s squad to face Fulham and Pep Guardiola confirmed the World Cup winner has a “problem with his knee”.

Fabian Delph started in the left-back position against the Cottagers and he was replaced by Ilkay Gundogan in the 67th minute as City went on to beat Slavisa Jokanovic’s side 3-0 at the Etihad in the league clash on Saturday.

France’s RMC Sport have a report on the former AS Monaco man and they 24-year-old suffered an injury during a training session last week. It’s claimed it’s not serious, but he will miss the Champions League clash against Lyon this midweek.

The report also mentions that Delph has picked up an injury against Fulham and could be ‘unavailable’ for one to two weeks, meaning the former Barcelona manager will be without Mendy and the ex-Aston Villa man for the European fixture.

Oleksandr Zinchenko has not played a single minute this season can play on the left side of the back four, while Kyle Walker can be used as a left-back, while Danilo is made to play at right-back. In addition to this, Aymeric Laporte can also play in that position, meaning Guardiola will have three other options for the European fixture on Wednesday.
