After an impressive debut season with PSV Eindhoven, which included 17 goals and eight assists in the league, Hirving Lozano went on to shine for Mexico and even scored the only goal in the match against Germany at the 2018 World Cup.

The 23-year-old’s form for club and country has not gone unnoticed and he had drawn attention from clubs in England and Spain. Catalan newspaper Sport claims Barcelona, Everton and Manchester United were ‘interested’ in signing the winger.

However, the Eredivisie outfit were not ready to allow their player leave the club, who still has five years left on his contract as the Dutch champions were not were ready to reject offers of €50m for the North American.

“We don’t want to lose him, even if there was an offer for him of 40 or 50 million,”  PSV manager Mark van Bommel said.

Now that Ernesto Valverde’s side and the Premier League clubs failed to sign an attacker, Lozano will face Barcelona at Camp Nou on Tuesday.

The Mexican international is managed by Mino Raiola, who has already taken a few of his clients, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku to Old Trafford in the past two years.

Manchester United have been linked for some time, with some in Mexico trying to push the story at times, and the Everton rumour was boosted by Marcel Brands moving from PSV to Goodison Park.

Brands would be an advantage for Everton in any move for Lozano.
