Holland starlet reveals Man City’s summer interest, gives reason for joining another club

Arnaut Danjuma left Dutch club NEC and made a switch to Club Brugge in the summer transfer window.

The winger impressed for his former club last season, scoring 11 goals and registering 17 assists in 28 league appearances in Holland’s second tier.

It was no surprise that the top clubs in the country and across Europe were keen on securing his services, but it was the Jupiler Pro League side who were successful in landing him.

Prior to his move to Belgium, the 21-year-old was attracting interest from clubs in England, Germany and France.

The Nigeria-born Netherlands U21 international gave an interview to Voetbal International, where he revealed his decision to join Ivan Leko’s side and while explaining, Danjuma stressed that Manchester City were once of the club’s interested in signing him.

“There was also interest from Germany, England and France. I follow my feelings, always. I cannot explain how that works exactly, but here it just worked,” he said.

“Club Brugge really wanted me. I love that attention. When I came here, it was immediately clear to me. Compared to all other clubs that were interested – including Manchester City – Club Brugge is the best place for my development.”

Since joining Brugge, the Dutchman has scored three goals and registered an assist in six league appearances.
