Rangers fullback Borna Barišić is all over the Croatian media this week as he’s full of enthusiasm ahead of an expected start for his country.
The footballer has been taking time out to praise manager Steven Gerrard, but he’s not the only Rangers player doing so in the Croatian media.
Nikola Katić has been doing similar, with the 21 year old defender happy to speak about his experiences in the Scottish Premiership and in Glasgow generally. Both Croatians joined Rangers this summer, and both appear very happy with their choice.
Speaking to Vecernji List, Katić kicked off by praising Gerrard and his approach to management at Rangers: “It is a great pleasure to work with such a player and coach of his stature. Obviously he hasn’t forgotten his playing career because he always knows what footballers need. He has a special relationship with us and it is a pleasure to work with him.”
“I’ve been learning that language for ten years and I use it well, but they have a strange use and sometimes speak fast so I don’t understand them. Fortunately, the majority of the players in the dressing room speak like me, so we can easily agree. Still, it is easier for me to speak to them in Croatian, given that Borna Barišić from Osijek has recently come to us. I have shared the dressing room with him at national gatherings, and he’s now the companion I spend most time with.”
The pair already love Rangers and Glasgow, and Katić explained: “I’ve visited Glasgow some times and I can tell you it’s a very nice town. Some are 20 minutes drive from the camp where we spend the most part of the day, but in the evening we get to go for a walk and see something. The climate, of course, is not close to what we have in Herzegovina, but this is a nice place and a pleasure for living.”
