Borna Barišić won’t shut up.
He’s been speaking to the media perhaps more than any other Croatia player during the current international break, clearly full of excitement for this period in his career.
Not being a part of the country’s World Cup heroics seems to have been a further motivation for the 25 year old to get a transfer and then try to fight his way into the national team squad.
Quoted by Croatia’s SportArena, the Rangers player explained: “I was preparing the whole summer for good performances in Europe, my departure was in sight, and it happened that we played Rangers who wanted to sign me and I agreed. We have a great team, there are many games ahead of us. Osijek is the second on the table, it’s great, they will continue that way and will be fighting for the top.”
Steven Gerrard was impressed and the transfer happened.
Feeling he’d have a better chance for the national team if he played outside of Croatia, the Rangers player set himself out a plan and it worked. Not only did he get his transfer, but he’s now back in the national squad.
Not a bad few months for Borna Barišić.
