Adam Lallana has been forced out of the current England squad with a groin injury, which will be a blow to the player given his fitness issues over the past couple of years.
Lallana has found it hard to both stay fit and keep in Jurgen Klopp’s plans, with the Liverpool manager having a wealth of options, and probably hesitant about relying on the Englishman too much.
Also concerning, at least for player if not club, is Simon Mignolet, who has today been absent from Belgium national team training.
The official line from Roberto Martinez’s national squad is that Mignolet has an injury, but there’s no explanation further than that. It will be a blow for the goalkeeper, who was probably hoping Martinez would give him some minutes, given Klopp doesn’t seem very keen to.

Mignolet had wanted to leave Liverpool this summer, regardless of whether a new goalkeeper was brought in or not, and his agent made that clear for several months.
The Belgian has been left frustrated that Loris Karius was instead allowed to go out on loan.
