Wednesday morning was an interesting time for Thierry Henry, who is reported to have said yes to managing Bordeaux following Gustavo Poyet’s dismissal late last week.
The Arsenal legend gave up his well paid job as a Sky pundit prior to the season’s start to focus on his managerial career, and, much like Patrick Vieira, could have his first European club role in France.
The former Gunners’ midfielder managed New York City FC before moving to OGC Nice in the summer, while Henry has been Roberto Martinez’s assistant manager with the Belgium national team for the past two years.
According to RMC Sport reporter Nicolas Paolorsi, one of the changes the former Barcelona forward could end up making in Bordeaux’s backroom staff is appointing current Arsenal scout and ex-teammate Gilles Grimandi as his assistant.
While Henry has said yes, it remains to be seen if the Ligue 1 side’s new American owners agree to the appointment, as they could still say no and perhaps ask for a more experienced manager to oversee their recent investment.
