Club ‘practically rule out’ arrival of Celtic player, transfer twist is Rodgers boost

Spanish newspaper AS reported on Thursday that Sevilla are ‘speeding up’ their efforts in signing Celtic’s Dedryck Boyata.

Today’s edition of Diario de Sevilla claims a sequence of events means the La Liga outfit will no longer be making an approach for the Belgium international.

Pablo Machin saw his side allow Steven Nzonzi to join AS Roma and they are planning to replace the World Cup winner with Maxime Gonalons.

The report claims the Serie A defensive midfielder has decided to join the Spanish club and his arrival will see Sevilla use Ibrahim Amadou as a centre-back.

The Frenchman has already been used in the back four by Marcelo Bielsa while at Lille. This should ‘practically rule out’ the arrival of Boyata, who has already seen his move to the Premier League being blocked by Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Diario de Sevilla also claims the situation depends on the last movements in the market and the number of players Sevilla will have at their disposal in the end.
