Portuguese side Benfica have denied that the club are in advanced negotiations with West Ham United for the transfer of João Félix.
In a statement on their official website this Sunday, the Eagles have a go directly at Sky Sports, who reported the talks earlier today.
The English outlet claimed that ‘a deal is believed to be close’ for the 18-year-old, as both clubs would be ‘keen on completing the move’.
The story has obviously made big noise in the Portuguese media today, and that’s why Benfica were quick to dismiss the claims.
‘Sport Lisboa e Benfica – Futebol, SAD informs that the news that reporting a possible negotiation and transfer of player João Félix to West Ham is false and without any basis.
João Félix is part of a group of players who were recently promoted to the A team and is a firm bet for this and for the next seasons.’
Back in April, Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United were all linked to Felix, as scouts from Premier League clubs have reportedly watched him in action. At that time, the Portuguese press claimed that Benfica had no intention to let him go, and would demand €40m for his sale.
