Monday afternoon saw a weird turn of events as we started seeing claims that Diario Olé were reporting Nicolas Tagliafico’s agent was ‘travelling to England’ to discuss a move to Newcastle for his client.
We went to have a look in both the Argentinian newspaper’s print edition and website, but couldn’t find anything on the matter.
The next logical step was having a quick look on Twitter, in case some journalist had tweeted an update, but nope, nothing.
What we did come across, however, was Peter Coates, a football writer based in Argentina, trying to clarify the situation, explaining an old tweet of his from August 2017 had been shared, back from when Newcastle were previously linked, and it had been taken as recent fact.
Yes – nothing from here on that. The original story was from 2017 when Tagliafico was still at Independiente. The Sun seem to reckon he will be on the move again but I’ve not heard anything in Argentina

This came after an “exclusive” by an English newspaper claiming both the Magpies and Fulham were after the Ajax left-back.
So, as things stand, there’s nothing in Argentina about Tagliafico to Newcastle. It’s all come from England, and not the best source at that.
