While the talent Anthony Martial possesses is undeniable, the Manchester United forward still manages to divide a fanbase, with a large group believing he should be given more game time by José Mourinho and another backing the Portuguese’s views, willing to let him leave the club permanently.
This rift also appears to be an internal affair at Old Trafford, as many reports suggest Ed Woodward categorically does not want to sell the France international, while the manager would prefer more experienced players like Ivan Perisic or Willian instead.
Amid all this, Martial himself is reported as wanting to leave the club, helped by his agent who gave an interview to RMC Sport back in June, revealing his desire to try his luck elsewhere.
However, Manchester United weren’t prepared to let him do that, but that appears to have changed.
Reporting on the forward’s premature return to Europe to be with his girlfriend for the birth of their baby boy, RMC Sport also claim that, these days, Manchester United are ‘no longer opposed’ to the 22-year-old moving elsewhere.
That’s quite a big change, but it means nothing until a club comes along with an offer deemed adequate enough by the Premier League side, and none have arrived as of yet.
The belief is that Manchester United are looking to recoup at least £60m.
