Yerry Mina’s uncle and agent, Jair has already confirmed Everton and other clubs’ interest in signing the Barcelona defender.

On July 25th, Mundo Deportivo reported the Colombian international’s representative had already held talks with the leaders of Barcelona, but, so far, all parties involved in the discussion are yet to arrive at a final solution.

Thursday’s edition of the Catalan newspaper claims today can be ‘key for the future’ of the 23-year-old.

The La Liga winners have slapped a €40m price tag on the player and want to include a buy-back option when they sanction his sale.

Mundo Deportivo now reports Lyon have joined the race and are ‘best positioned’ to battle with Everton in signing Mina. Jair has already stressed his client will play for a big club in Europe.

A move to the French side will help him play in the Champions League, something he will not be able to achieve next season if he joins the Toffees.

Mina was hopeful of making it to the meeting with Barca with a written offer on the table, as the summit would ‘serve to communicate’ face-to-face without intermediaries.

Even if the sporting leaders of Barcelona agree for the transfer, there would be no green light because CEO Oscar Grau, who is with the first team in the United States, will have a final say.

The report claims the nine-hour time gap is hindering talks.
