At the weekend Borussia Dortmund publicly announced, via Twitter, that Andre Schurrle had been pulled out of the friendly against Manchester City because he was in talks to join another club.
The German media immediately reported the destination was to be England, with the former Chelsea player having a desire to return to the Premier League.
Crystal Palace were then the club picked out by several German publications.
Interest from Roy Hodgson’s side had been reported earlier and there were even, optimistic from a German perspective, claims Schurrle could be sent to Crystal Palace as part of a deal for Wilfried Zaha.
It turns out it was the wrong London club, because Schurrle is signing for Fulham. His move to the Cottagers has been widely reported on Wednesday morning and now his agent has confirmed the transfer.
Speaking to German newspaper Bild, Ingo Haspel is quoted as saying: “Andre is completing in these minutes a medical at Fulham.”
Bild mention the Palace interest, say AC Milan were keen, and insinuate Schurrle has instead chosen Fulham.
