Relatively quiet on the European transfer market so far, Burnley are about to change that with a bid for Nantes’ Abdoulaye Touré.
This is what L’Equipe are reporting on Monday, claiming the Clarets will make a first offer of around €10-12m for the former France U20 international.
Sean Dyche’s side have already offered the 24-year-old a five year contract, but could face some competition from Sevilla should the La Liga side end up selling Steven N’Zonzi.
Burnley were already in negotiations with Nantes for Touré, and it appears the early talks went well enough for the Premier League club to feel confident enough of getting their man.
The defensive midfielder has four years left on his current with the Ligue 1 side, and was voted the team’s best player by their fans last season after Claudio Ranieri’s relatively successful season at the helm.
Touré would be Burnley’s first acquisition of the summer, having seen Scott Arfield, Chris Long, Dean Marney and Tom Anderson all leave the club on frees.
