Milliyet’s Besiktas journalist Serdar Saridag claims Arsenal have made an approach for Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida.
Last week we covered claims from Turkey that West Ham United are showing a serious interest in Vida, but Milliyet say Arsenal are now in contention to sign the Croatian defender.
According to Milliyet, Besiktas president Fikret Orman is ‘happy’ with Arsenal’s interest in Vida as he wants the Croatian’s transfer fee to inflate after claims West Ham have offered €22m to sign him.
Besiktas are reportedly looking to bring at least one more English club to the table to increase his value, and Saridag report the club are looking to sell Vida for the highest transfer fee in the history of the Turkish Super Lig.
Orman is now expected to travel to England for talks with the interested clubs, and Liverpool, West Ham and now Arsenal are said to be in the mix to sign the 29 year old.
Vida is currently on holiday following Croatia’s 2nd place finish in the World Cup but the player isn’t expected to stay at the club given the amount of interest he’s receiving from Premier League clubs.
This potential transfer may be getting out of hand and it remains to be seen whether Arsenal have moved in or whether the club is simply being used.
