Yacine Brahimi should be staying at Porto. After putting the player for sale, the Dragons have decided to keep the player and renew his contract, according to reports from Portugal this Monday.

Newspaper Record claims that Porto were ‘testing the market’ when spreading the word that they wanted €30m for the winger.

Some clubs showed interest, which would be Roma and West Ham. Both were willing to get close to that amount, but didn’t make the ‘final step’ for the signing.

Probably because of the lack of a decision from Roma and West Ham, Porto are now working to renew Brahimi’s contract, in order not to lose him when his current deal expires in 2019.

This is not the first time West Ham are linked to Brahimi. The Portuguese newspapers have been reporting the chase for quite a few years now.

But if the Hammers haven’t decided to make a bid now that the player is 28, we wonder if they will every try to get him again after he signs a new contract.

There’s every chance Brahimi was a back-up option to other signings West Ham have made recently.
