Earlier on Tuesday, we covered claims from Turkey on Henry Onyekuru’s move to Galatasaray, and confirmation from the Turkish club’s manager that the deal is nearly done.
The Everton owned player spent last season at Anderlecht but didn’t want to return to the Belgian club after a fall-out.
Everton, Anderlecht and Onyekuru had disagreed on treatment for the player’s knee injury.
The Belgian side were adamant he needed surgery, but Everton and Onyekuru were prepared to go down the rehabilitation route, to give him a chance of representing Nigeria at the World Cup.
Now, he’s off to Turkey, but Ajansspor report there’s a clause in the loan deal. If Onyekuru suffers the same knee injury again, so if there’s a relapse, then the transfer arrangement can be completely cancelled and the player sent back to Everton.
This isn’t an unusual situation, and it makes some sense for Gala to protect themselves.
