Galatasaray yesterday confirmed they are in official talks with Everton with regards to loaning Henry Onyekuru for the season.
The Everton player has travelled to Istanbul for his medical and his move looks to be imminent.
Turkish newspaper Milliyet, who were first to report the Onyekuru deal, say Galatasaray won’t pay any loan fee to Everton and that the player will earn €2m during his season-long stay at the Turkish club. It’s understood there’s no redemption clause to make his move from Everton permanent.
Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim has spoken to the Turkish press at the club’s training camp in Switzerland about the deal for the Everton player.
Terim said as covered by Bein Sports Turkey: “Henry Onyekuru is a player that we are following for a very long time. Everton loaned him to Anderlecht last season and he scored 9 goals there, played in the Champions League. He’s also a Nigeria international, he can play in different positions.”
“I am very happy. He had his medical yesterday, we spoke with our doctors, they gave the green light and then we made the official announcement to the stock-market (KAP). He’s not going to cost us much, that’s also very good.”
The youngster is still waiting to make his Everton debut due to work permit issues despite joining the club 12 months ago from Eupen. Onyekuru suffered a knee injury last season which he feels stopped him from going to the World Cup, so Galatasaray likely did a thorough check on that.
