Unless you’ve been living under a rock these past few months, you’ll be fully aware of the constant reporting from Spain and Italy surrounding Alvaro Morata’s future.
The Spanish striker has a €30m buy-back clause in his contract included by Real Madrid when they sold him to Juventus, and now the Spanish giants want to activate it to then sell him on for a profit.
Well, there’s been no new movements today after yesterday’s claims Conte had made contact via his staff with Morata for a Chelsea move, but there is a surprising alternative for Juventus were they to sell him.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A champions are considering the option of saving Christian Benteke from his small Liverpool nightmare if Morata departed for greener pastures.
The Belgium striker has struggled for time on the pitch following Jürgen Klopp’s arrival, with the German manager preferring both Daniel Sturridge or Divock Origi to the former Aston Villa star, and talk of an exit has been pretty constant for a while now.
Gazzetta also state the more affordable option of Michy Batshuayi is a possibility, while Romelu Lukaku is also mentioned, but Everton’s asking price might just be out of Juventus’ reach.
It wouldn’t come as much of a surprise if Benteke snatched at the opportunity to sign for the Italian club if given the chance, especially if given the chance of playing Champions League football.
