At the time, we felt Il Tempo’s valuation was a bit low, and Il Messaggero on Thursday appear to think the same, as they think it would cost Lazio, the interested party, €6-8m to convince Celtic to sell.
The Italian newspaper feel that since Boyata doesn’t appear interested in staying in Scotland any longer, the Bhoys will be ‘forced’ to put him on the market to make some profit on their initial £1.8m.
The fact Celtic are currently trying to get the centre-back, currently in Russia with Belgium for the World Cup, to extend his spell with them suggests Brendan Rodgers still trusts the 27-year-old after his 39 appearances for the club last season.
Following his start against Panama, Boyata expressed his delight, telling HLN in Belgium it was a ‘dream that became reality’.
