Sheffield Wednesday remain interested in Frederico Venancio despite giving up their option to sign the player this summer, reports O Jogo on Sunday.
The Portuguese newspaper explain that after having the defender on loan last season, the Yorkshire club have been considering signing him from Vitoria Setubal on a permanent basis.
Whilst they had a clause to buy Venancio, it’s reported that Sheffield Wednesday didn’t like the conditions and would look to get a better deal.
Setubal have been contacted by more than one other club from England’s second tier, although the identity of those interested isn’t shared by O Jogo.
Frederico Venancio started 25 games for Sheffield Wednesday last season, and the 25 year old has a contract with Vitoria Setubal until June 2021.
