Watford have identified Sevilla’s Sergio Rico as a goalkeeping target this summer. The 24-year-old has been with Los Rojiblancos throughout his club career, having joined their academy in 2006.

Rico and Sevilla are set to end their 12-year partnership and the Spain international has opportunities to leave the La Liga outfit, according to AS. His agent and his current employers are now evaluating the proposals.

One of the clubs interested in Rico is Watford. The offer made by the Hornets is not meeting the expectation of Sevilla, who are demanding €15m to part ways with the goalkeeper. The report does not mention details of bid made by Javier Gracia’s side.

Rico’s last appearance for Sevilla was at the end of March. Since then, he lost his place in the squad to David Soria. Rico was subjected to criticism for his performances and errors, which saw him lose a place in the cup final to his compatriot.

The Sevilla goalkeeper believes a move to a different club can help him develop. Watford are interested, but they can only sign Rico if they meet the Spanish club’s €15m asking price.

If Rico decides to sign for Watford, he would likely expect to become first choice goalkeeper at Vicarage Road.
