Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has slammed the use of VAR in the World Cup on the eve of the competition.
The 27 year old is currently in Russia as he prepares for the tournament with Sweden.
Speaking to Afonbladet, the Leeds United star was asked about VAR being used for the first time in the World Cup: “It’s very bad. To me it’s a joke. To me it’s a no-brainer not to have it. Football should be human and there should be mistakes.
“To determine if the ball is over the line is good. But when the match stops due to this. To me it’s been crazy what I’ve seen this year when it was tested.”
Jansson will be featuring in his first World Cup finals for his country and it’s was his from in his first season at Elland Road which forced him back into contention.
However, the central defender played his part in Sweden qualifying for Russia and was involved in some crucial games.
Sweden have been drawn in a tough group and are likely to battling with Mexico to finish second in the group to Germany.
