Everton are in the race to sign Bordeaux midfielder Clement Chantome according to claims in France. The 28-year-old has been linked with other English sides in recent weeks including Middlesbrough and Sunderland.
Le Foot claim Everton are the latest club to show an interest in the former French international, following the interest from the two North East clubs.
Everton will be looking to bolster their squad when the transfer window opens, and Chantome is an option open to them. The central midfielder will become a free agent this summer when his contract expires with Bordeaux, and there seems no sign the French club will extend his stay with the club.
Chantome has played just under 40 games for Bordeaux since he joined the club from PSG in 2015, and looks surplus to requirements.
Chantome came thorough the PSG youth system and made 168 Ligue 1 appearance for the French giants. The Frenchman made his international debut in 2012, but never added to his tally.
