West Ham United midfielder Guido Rodríguez remains on Palmeiras’ radar. However, his situation is now described in Brazil as being on stand-by, with clearer context around the club’s short-term plans.
According to ESPN Brasil, Guido Rodríguez was offered to Palmeiras in recent days. This update reinforces earlier reporting from UOL, which stated that the midfielder’s representatives have already contacted the Brazilian club to outline possible conditions. At this stage, Palmeiras view the talks as exploratory, not as formal negotiations.
Palmeiras are also showing restraint in the market. Before moving for any external signing, the club want to assess internal options. The plan is to test 17-year-old Luís Pacheco with the first team during the first half of the season. Only if that evaluation raises doubts will the club consider advancing talks for a new midfielder.
If Palmeiras do return to the market, Rodríguez is seen as the preferred option. The 31-year-old is entering the final phase of his contract at West Ham and can already sign a pre-contract agreement. His limited role in England strengthens that possibility. This season, he has played just 252 minutes across six matches, with no goals or assists.
ESPN also report that Rodríguez earns around £75,000 per week. West Ham consider that salary high and could welcome a future exit. Juventus and Ajax have also shown interest, which adds competition to the situation.
For now, Palmeiras keep the case on hold. Still, Rodríguez’s reduced minutes and contract status keep his name central to discussions about a potential return to South America.
