During the last summer transfer window, Edson Alvarez tried to leave Ajax towards the end of the market.

The Dutch side had already seen multiple big name departures and were determined not to see another one leaving the club.

De Telegraaf report that on deadline day of the summer market, Chelsea offered £55m to the Eredivisie club, only to see their board decide to reject the offer.

Just after the market had closed, the Blues tried to set up a deal for the winter market, offering £45m to secure the Mexican and have him move to England in January.

Again, Ajax brushed them off and the player was left furious with the club, fearing that his chance for a big move could be passing him by.

According to De Telegraaf, he’s now set for another chance, but not with Chelsea. Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich both want Alvarez and there’s expected to be progress on a transfer in the coming weeks.

However, this time Ajax won’t get anything close to what Chelsea offered, with De Telegraaf saying they’re aiming for €40m.
