Throughout much of June, the Italian press has been positive about Napoli’s move for Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez. The player has been hyped repeatedly, and even been compared to compatriot Edinson Cavani.

Corriere dello Sport report Liverpool haven’t yet come down from demanding €60m for the Uruguay international, and that figure is too high for Napoli.

Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca is therefore being pushed forward as another option, with the giant 24-year-old striker thought to be valued at about €30m.

Inter Milan are also keen on Lucca.

Corriere dello Sport report Napoli will take ‘48 hours to decide’ whether to keep pushing for the Uruguayan or move for other targets such as Lucca. If Liverpool reduce their asking price, the move could yet progress, ut Lucca’s profile is rising up on Napoli’s shortlist.

This could all be a tactic to pressure Liverpool, especially the 48 hour part. Given Nunez and his agent want the move, suggesting there’s the possibility of Napoli moving to other targets if there’s no quick price reduction could encourage everyone to press harder.
