Rangers potential managerial target Philippe Clement could soon be off the table, with Saudi Arabian side Al-Shabab also interested.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who make it clear Rangers may need to move quickly if they want the Belgian coach to be Michael Beale’s replacement at Ibrox.
Clement has been linked with a move to Ibrox this week, with Rangers on the hunt for Beale’s replacement after his sacking after just 10 months in charge.
Several reports have put Clement on the list of potential candidates, with Rangers believed to be drawing up a shortlist quickly in the hope of finding a new manager sooner rather than later.
He’s currently a free agent after leaving Monaco in June and is yet to find a new role but Foot Mercato state he could end up at Al-Shabab.
They state that, according to their information, discussions are taking place between Clement and the management of the Saudi club, who are looking for a replacement for Argentine Juan Brown, who is working in a temporary role following the sacking of Marcel Keizer.
The move would presumably be a tempting one for the Belgian coach, obviously because of the money involved, but also for the chance to link up with players such as Yannick Carrasco, Romain Saiss, Habib Diallo and Ever Banega.
Rangers, then, may need to move quickly to get their man if he is indeed on the list of options being explored following the decision to remove Beale from the Ibrox hotseat.
