Celtic and Rangers have looked at bringing BK Häcken’s Silas Andersen to Celtic Park and Ibrox respectively. On January 7th, Bold reported Danny Röhl’s side were ahead of Martin O’Neill’s side in the transfer race.
A week later, Häcken sporting director Martin Ericsson said his club need more than €7.25m to sell Andersen. The figure quoted is their current record sale. He refused to confirm or deny Celtic or Rangers interest.
As well as Celtic and Rangers, the 21-year-old has attracted interest from other clubs and this includes FC Copenhagen.
A fresh report from Fotboll Direkt now covers the latest on Celtic, Rangers and the Danish club.
The outlet believe both Röhl’s side and FC Copenhagen have dropped out of the race to sign the midfielder. There’s no explanation given as to why Rangers and FCK are no longer in the picture.
Either way, it should clearly favour Celtic, who are still in the mix to sign the Denmark U21 international before Monday’s deadline. O’Neill’s side have to be wary of the tough competition as five unnamed clubs are also keen.
Fotboll Direkt mention this in a report focusing on the Swedish club receiving an offer of 40m SEK. That figure works out at €3.8m or £3.2m.
The club to have submitted this mystery bid hasn’t been named. It may not matter because the offer has been turned down as it’s not close to the fee desired by BK Häcken.
The Swedish club’s demand has been 80-90m SEK [€7.57-8.5m] since last autumn.
As per Fotboll Direkt, Häcken could lower the fixed fee to sanction Andersen’s sale in this window. However, they want the overall fee [including bonuses] to reach their 80-90m SEK.
Between the two Scottish club, Celtic appear likelier than Rangers.
