Following the rejection of Feyenoord boss Arne Slot to the Leeds United job, the Dutch media proves to be supporting his decision.
A new column on this subject can be found on De Telegraaf, where pundit Wim Kieft claims the manager did well to not abandon the Eredivisie side to join the Whites at this stage.
It’s claimed that it’s ‘only logical’ that Slot didn’t make the move. First because he’d leave his work at Feyenoord undone in the middle of the season, which would be ‘terrible’ for the club, and then because Leeds have been playing ‘relegation football’ with such a poor campaign.
Kieft points out that among the coach’s qualities, there’s the fact that he’s been playing some kind of ‘fun’ football with the Dutch side this season, regardless of the aspirations they have. And that would not be possible at Elland Road, since the Whites are in a delicate situation which requires getting the necessary points at all costs.
That’s why ‘if it had been Manchester City knocking on the door’, he’d just have left Feyenoord and made the move to England. But with such a difficult challenge waiting for him at Leeds, he chose to stay safe for now and continue with his project.
