Sadio Mane has to leave Liverpool this summer if he is ‘shine and impress’ and ‘improve his value’ moving forwards.
That’s according to former Cameroon star Patrick Mboma, who believes the Senegal forward should be eyeing up a move to the likes of PSG, Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Mane has been an undisputed star for Liverpool since his arrival from Southampton in a £37m deal in July 2016, playing a key role in their success under Jurgen Klopp.
He remains a star to this day, with a record of 110 goals and 45 assists in 250 games for the club, ensuring he is one of the first names on the teamsheet.
He has found himself out of the team of late, though, with the arrival of Diogo Jota last year and then Luis Diaz in the January transfer window, creating increased competition in Liverpool’s squad.
Should he fail to sign a new deal before this summer, Liverpool could be forced to sell to ensure they do not lose the forward on a free transfer next year.
And Mboma believes Mane should be pushing for the move, stating that Diaz’s arrival from Porto should be taken as a sign.
“Sadio Mané will leave Liverpool or not? He has done something important and that is to give a major title to Senegal,” Afrique Sports report him saying.
“Of course we talk about his club but in his club he won the championship and the Champions League. He is at the top of what can happen to him today in terms of his career.
“It will still be difficult but not impossible for Liverpool to take the points from Mahrez and co. But I think that if he wants to shine and impress us, he can go and look for a challenge elsewhere.
“We’re not talking about the end of his career, but to improve his value and his value is immense value and his value is immense. And his destination? PSG, FC Barcelona, Real…
“What is certain is that for a player like that to leave the English league for another club, it takes a lot of money.
“In any case with the recruitment of Luiz Diaz, Liverpool expects to have one leaving. They expect a departure, really. They are not going to do with 4 top strikers.
“Salah I have no doubt he will stay. Great players in great clubs don’t leave unless they are at the end of their contract.”
