Brentford, Sunderland, Stoke City, Norwich City and Portsmouth are all monitoring Brazilian winger André Luiz. Portuguese outlet A Bola reported that the English sides have made early contact for the Rio Ave attacker.

Sunderland and Brentford would obviously have the Premier League advantage, but Stoke City, Portsmouth and Norwich City would likely be able to offer a bigger role

A bola the 23-year-old has become one of the most scouted wide players in the Primeira Liga this season, which explains the volume of approaches from both the Premier League and the Championship.

Rio Ave have set a €15m valuation to protect one of their key assets. The club will not consider bids below that figure, repeating the strong stance taken earlier with Clayton

André Luiz has been a guaranteed starter this season and has four goals and four assists in 12 matches, which has pushed his value up.

A Bola underlined that his mix of physical presence, speed and technical quality is viewed as ideal for English football. Scouts from Sunderland, Brentford, Stoke City, Norwich City and Portsmouth will have highlighted his ability to drive past defenders and maintain high intensity across 90 minutes.

Interest is not restricted to England. SC Braga continue to follow him closely in Portugal, while clubs in Brazil have also asked for updates. Even so, Rio Ave are reluctant to sell in January unless a team reaches the €15m mark.

The next steps will depend on whether any of the English clubs decide the valuation represents fair market opportunity. For now, the situation remains open ahead of the winter window.
