Zeki Amdouni is on the verge of leaving Burnley for Benfica, according to a report from the Portuguese media on Tuesday lunchtime.

Portuguese newspaper Record reports that after progress in negotiations on Tuesday morning, the player is now expected to swap the Championship for Liga Portugal and a potential title fight in Lisbon.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has made two appearances for Burnley so far this season, scoring once. During the last campaign he made 37 appearances for the Clarets, scoring six goals and contributing a single assist.

He also took part in Switzerland’s Euro 2024 campaign and that may have helped him reignite the attention of Benfica.

Record report he’s one step away from the Eagles, having already been in their plans last summer. At that point he decided that Burnley would be his home for the 2023/24 season.

There’s no indication yet on the structure of the transfer, such as whether it’s a loan or permanent transfer and what the financials involved are, just confidence that this move is close to happening.
