Micky van de Ven was left out of Wolfsburg training today as he finalises a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
That’s according to Braunschweiger Zeitung, who say the German club have said ‘it is not certain’ that the player will be available to them this weekend.
Reports in England have made it clear that Tottenham are closing in on a deal for Van de Ven, with Daniel Levy seemingly ready to stump up the €50m figure needed to sign him.
It’s been made clear that a deal was rapidly progressing since those initial reports came out and Braunschweiger Zeitung seemingly back that up this afternoon.
They cover the reports from England and state that Wolfsburg did not want to comment on Van de Ven when asked about him by the newspaper.
They can confirm, however, that the Dutchman ‘did not take part’ in group training today and instead completed individual training away from the rest of his teammates.
Wolfsburg insisted this was just “training control” when asked about the situation before admitting they were not certain if Van de Ven would play in friendlies against US Sassuolo and Celta Vigo this weekend.
BZ state this could be because the 22-year-old ‘will travel for medical check shortly’ with Tottenham’, even suggesting that at this point he could already be on the plane to England.
As far as they’re concerned, ‘everything indicates’ that the transfer is close to being finalised and Van de Ven will be a Spurs player sooner rather than later.
