While the future of Piotr Zielinski is still up in the air, it seems Napoli are out of the picture.
However, this doesn’t mean Liverpool have the all clear to sign the Polish midfielder from Udinese.
Unfortunately for Jürgen Klopp and co., AC Milan have now targeted the 22-year-old who spent last season on loan at Empoli, where he impressed enough to make Poland’s squad for the 2016 Euros.
While AC Milan might have made an interesting offer of €15m + bonuses, the player is still very much in favour of a move to Liverpool, who have already made him a contract offer.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Merseyside club have put a five-year contract in front of the young midfielder worth €2m/year (around £32k/week), which is more than the £21k/week offered by Napoli.
As for AC Milan, they are prepared to offer Zielinski £24k/week + bonuses over five years, as well as a big promise that he would be an important part of the team; something Gazzetta don’t feel will be the case at Liverpool.
So, even though one Serie A club seems out the picture, we’re still where we were two weeks ago.
Zielinski wants Liverpool, while Udinese seem reluctant to let him go there.
