Taiwo Awoniyi is on his third loan move away from Liverpool. Signing for the Premier League club in 2015, Awoniyi first went to Frankfurt, then moved to NEC, and this season he’s at Royal Excel Mouscron in Belgium.

Liverpool aren’t forgetting about the 20 year old, and in an interview with Belgium’s SportFoot, Awoniyi was asked about training with the club recently, only just returning to Mouscron.

The striker confirmed that, telling SportFoot: “It was really good. For a young player like me, this is a great opportunity. It allows me to be a little more familiar with everyone at the club. I talked with the players, with the coach. It always pushes young players to go further, it’s motivating. At the club, they are happy with me. They watch my matches and they see me scoring goals, that’s fine.”

Asked about which players inspired him as a child playing football, Awoniyi said: “Let’s say that I grew up admiring four great strikers: Didier Drogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thierry Henry and Edinson Cavani. I especially supported Arsenal, and Liverpool too. Of course, there was also Jay-Jay Okocha. For me, he was the best player in the world. He was doing incredible stuff with the ball.”

Awoniyi is settling well in Belgium, scoring in the first half of his debut, and picking up 3 goals and 2 assists in total already. The Nigerian youth player hopes to breakthrough to his country’s national team and is doing all the right things to make that happen.

SportFoot put it to the Liverpool owned player that he’s only young and has been on three loans to different countries, and ask if he’s ever felt lost in the situation.

Awoniyi insists everything has been fine, and made it very  it’s Liverpool who make the decisions, and he goes along with them: “No, for me it has always been like that. I am under contract with Liverpool and Liverpool is in charge of finding arrangements with clubs so that I can progress. It’s clear. When they have an arrangement, they tell me about it, I give my agreement and I move, I go, that’s all. I don’t feel lost because everything is still in place. When I arrive, wherever I am, I adapt.”

Taiwo Awoniyi comes across excellently. A very well raised young man who is ready to take responsibility and work hard to make his dreams come true.
