For the past few weeks, Manchester United’s desire to sign Rasmus Højlund has been repeatedly discussed in the Italian media. Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly also joined the race for the Atalanta star.
On Sunday, Corriere della Sera reported PSG are ahead of the Red Devils in the race to sign the striker, although it felt like a potential tactic to hurry things along.
Il Giornale state the Serie A side are ‘waiting for the assaults’ from both Manchester United and the Paris club.
It’s claimed PSG joining the race for the 20-year-old could see Erik ten Hag’s side step up their efforts and make an improved offer.
Calciomercato also state Manchester United are ‘ready for another attempt’. It’s said they will ‘submit a new improved offer’ of around €70m to win the race to sign the Dane.
Højlund wants to join Manchester United ‘at all costs’ and has asked his agent to prioritise a move to Old Trafford. That’s according to Alfredo Pedullà, who adds this will be a ‘very important week’ to define the frontman’s future.
Fiorentina sold Vlahović to Juventus in January 2022 for €70m plus €10m bonuses and Pedullà says Atalanta have set a similar valuation [€65m fixed fee plus €9-10m bonuses] for the Dane.
