Newcastle United secured their first Champions League win of this season against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.
Miguel Almirón, Dan Burn, Sean Longstaff and Fabian Schär all got their names on the scoresheet as the Magpies sealed a 4-1 victory.
French newspaper L’Equipe are not pleased with PSG’s display against Newcastle and were very critical of Kylian Mbappé’s performance at St James’ Park.
The lowest rating awarded for yesterday’s game was 2/10 and it was given to the 24-year-old, Randal Kolo Muani and Marquinhos.
Gonçalo Ramos, Manuel Ugarte and Achraf Hakimi were all given 3/10 while Milan Škriniar and Ousmane Dembélé both got 4/10. Warren Zaïre-Emery received the highest rating of 6/10.
L’Equipe say Mbappé only had one shot on target and it came in the 85th minute, they also say it was one of his worst matches for the Paris club.
The forward usually manages to at least create a spark when he’s having a difficult game but that wasn’t the case against Eddie Howe’s side.
The France international hurt his ankle 10 days ago and even though he wasn’t ruled out, L’Equipe believe he may have not been 100% fit, which could be one of the reasons for his struggle against Newcastle.
L’Equipe further claim the PSG attackers were ‘deprived of ammunition’ and when they were presented an opportunity, Newcastle were able to nullify the threat.
Howe’s side are currently leading the group table while PSG will be hoping to bounce back when they host AC Milan on October 25th.
