Manchester United target João Neves has revealed his desire to turn into the complete player, having already secured the backing of Bruno Fernandes in that pursuit.

O Jogo cover the player today and comments from him after he scored in the win over Chaves via a header.

The young midfielder is one of the highest rated prospects in European football at this moment in time, having established himself as a key player for Benfica over the last 18 months or so.

He’s a regular for the side, despite only being 19 years old, and has regularly justified his place in the side with a series of mature performances in the league and in Europe.

The youngster has already been linked with a big move away from the club as a result, with Benfica continuing to be a hotbed of talent that the big sides in Europe are keen to scoop up.

Manchester United have a long history of signing talent from Portugal and he’s very much a player on their list.

In the meantime, Neves continues to develop at home, earning rave reviews, even from Manchester United, where ‘agent’ Bruno Fernandes is a big fan and has praised him on more than one occasion.

And the youngster admits his aim is to be the complete player, after bagging a rare headed goal to add to his collection.

“Head goal? I try to be a very complete player,” he said.

“It was a fair victory. Now in this final part of the season, after the selection break, we need the support of the entire Benfica fanatic soul, because we still have many competitions at stake, and we want to do our best in all of them.”
