Manchester United youngster Amir Ibragimov has been included in Russia’s national team roster ahead of the next international break.

Sports RU report that the 18-year-old Manchester United youngster has been included in Russia’s expanded team roster. That could see him play against Egypt, Burkina Faso and Trinidad and Tobago.

Russia international friendlies

Russia will not be a part of the World Cup this summer after being banned by FIFA following the invasion of Ukraine. They were banned from qualifying in 2025, thus missing out on the tournament this summer.

Since the ban was handed down, they have continued to compete internationally, though. This has largely been against non-Western countries in friendlies.

Their next game is set for 28th May against Egypt, before they also take on Burkina Fason 5th June and then Trinidad on 9th June.

An extended squad ahead of those games was announced this week, and Manchester United youngster Amir Ibragimov is a part of it. The 18-year-old could now be in line for his first international appearance.

Manchester United talent

Amir Ibragimov, a winger who can also play attacking midfield, currently plays for Manchester United’s U21 side.

He’s a product of United’s youth system, making 45 appearances for the U18s, scoring 12 goals and registering 10 assists. He’s since graduated to the U21s, where he has three goals in 14 appearances so far. This season he has four goals and two assists across 15 appearances in all competitions.

That, it seems, has put him on Russia’s radar. The Manchester United youngster is on their extended list ahead of the international break.

Interestingly, Ibragimov is yet to feature for his country at any level. But he has played for England at both U15 an U16 level. The last of those appearances came for the latter in 2024. Now it could be Russia who want him.
