Before the start of the season, Borussia Dortmund agreed a two year loan deal for André Schürrle.
As per the deal, the World Cup winner with Germany will continue at Craven Cottage until the end of the next season, but there is a clause in the contract so the temporary deal will be terminated if the English club is relegated from the Premier League.
When German outlet Kicker asked the 28-year-old if he will play in the Championship, he said: “No. My loan would end in the case of relegation. The contract in Dortmund would be active again.”
In case Fulham are relegated, Schürrle was further questioned if he will be at Dortmund next season. He stressed: “That’s still too far away, my whole focus is on the task here.”
Claudio Ranieri, who took charge of the Premier League club in November, is still not able to help the club get out of the bottom three. Fulham are now 19th in the league table with 17 points after 25 games.
They also have the worst defensive record in the league, having conceded 55 goals this term.
Fulham have 13 games left to save their season.
