With Newcastle United close to finally completing the transfer of Sandro Tonali, some prominent figures around AC Milan are talking about the deal.
One of them is known to football fans around the world, and that’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who retired from football earlier this year after ending his stint with the Serie A club.
He will know the future Newcastle player well, and that’s why, when asked about it during a commercial event in Bergamo, relayed by Calciomercato, he was honest, as he always has been throughout his career.
Ibrahimovic said: “Is he ready for the Premier League? Yes, I think so. Sure, it depends on him. I made him understand the right mentality he must have in order to win, and he won. He grew up a lot with Milan, he has a great responsibility and still has to grow, but in England he will do it, and he will do it well.”
Those are some positive words from the footballing icon, who clearly believes Newcastle have got themselves a very good player.
With the Magpies spending north of €70m for the midfielder, Eddie Howe will have made it clear how much he believes in the Italian, and clearly Ibrahimovic is giving the move a thumbs up, at least for the Tyneside side of things.
Sandro Tonali was part of the AC Milan squad that lifted the Serie A trophy in 2022, and helped his team reach the Champions League semi-finals this year.
